Anything can happen and it always does!
I was beckoned early this year to quit my job and being shipped to Ohio to care for my 93 year old Aunt Dolores, in a rural part of Ohio. I don’t mention the name to keep ‘solace’ for those living there, though I felt like a total ‘ousider’ there. My Sister and her family took it upon themselves to house her and do what they can. No one can stop working to do it, so I was drawn in ‘to help’ for several months. I thought it would be ‘cool’ to be doing this for my ‘dear old Aunt Dolores’. Wow! Was I wrong. Though she and I see ‘eye to eye’ on just about everything, the same can’t be said about my Sister and her household. Also, the town itself. 97% Caucasian. Mostly Christian, Protestants are the majority, though some Catholics are there too. Though they are civilized in many ways, people there are stuck in ‘times of the past’. Sis used to be a ‘wild child’ and ‘liberal’ back-in-the-day. Now? A born again Christian with all the ‘right wing’ values and such. Aunt Dolores and I ‘bit our tongues’ until no one was in the house. She let loose then, in her ‘New Yorker’ accent and opinions, both. A devout Democrat, she used language that would make a ‘sailor blush’. Funny as hell. Truthful as hell too! I don’t think I have met, nor will I ever meet, a person that hates Trump as much as Dolores! Seriously! I remember when we were in her room, watching the news, and the story was about another Trump venture of sorts. She made a face that displayed ‘disgust’. Then went on to say, “Michael! Trump is a f#$@#g stupid a—hole!” I laughed because the way she said it, the whole thing really was ‘that funny’! Dry humor was always one of her ‘strong points’. Says it like ‘it is’, always has and will always do, respectively. Then. I had traveled around town on foot. Wow! A sea of ‘Trump’ lawn signs almsot every few yards. Lawns with Trump flags flying. And if it wasn’t specifically Trump, they were all ‘pro Republican’ on some level. State and local elections were pending and of course, that town was about 98% Trump and GOP. Trucks with flags ‘bigger than the truck itself’ drove by with ‘Trump’ flaying in the wind. Always had a ‘mental stink’ to it all. Then in stores, people talked ‘smack’ about President Biden and his administration. He was still running at the time. Democrats are Communists because we believe in a ‘social safety net’, as opposed to the Republican ethic that one must ‘rise up’ by themselves. That is not always possible, but they think that such things ‘drain’ society, not ‘enhance it’, respectively. Roe v Wade? Don’t even mention that there if you want to make it out of ‘alive’ there. Seriously! I was in line at the Kroger grocery store there in the middle of town. While I awaited, two middle aged, White women, were behind me and talked to each other. The subject? Roe v Wade! That’s right! They discussed how the subject was on the Ohio state ballot. Their opinions sounded so harsh and their perception was very ‘Victorian’. It was sick to listen to. Wish I had brought my Walkman and headphones at the time. Didn’t. So I was subjected to that and many other people ‘talking politics’. All of it, pro Trump and pro MAGA. I could see why. Mostly White. There is a xenophobia with that. Guns? It seems like that town is ‘fully loaded’! Some folks have ‘caches’ of weapons, not just ‘guns’. I met one dude that showed me his ‘vintage M-16’ with a ‘M-79 Grenade Launcher’ attached to it. Even has a few grenade shells too! Why? When I asked him why he felt the need to have such a thing, the guy turned to me and said, “Well! The way that Biden and the libs have it, they want to take our guns away. Without that, they can roll in and ‘dictate’! Also. The apocalypse is coming. Gotta be ‘prepared’!” That was it for me. These people want ‘lily white’. They want Christians. They want guns. And believe that women should be domestic (barefoot and pregnant). Consider social services as a ‘sin’, though many are using them secretly. They don’t talk about it if they do. Out of sight. Out of mind. That sort of thing. I was never more glad to come back home! When the plane landed, I literally ‘kissed the floor’ in the airport. A guy asked me why, so I told him. After hearing me for a few minutes, he said. “Well! Welcome back home!” He really meant that and it felt good. A real ‘homecoming’ as it were.
Donald Trump will not be able, even if he wants to, fulfill all the promises that he has made. There is division in the GOP. Many of the people that he has chosen for his so-called ‘cabinet’ are either ‘criminals’, ‘crooks’, ‘sidewinders’, ‘sexual predators’, or simply ‘inexperienced’. That is a major issue for Trump since he doesn’t draw up ‘qualified’ and ‘capable’ people. Rather he focuses on what they believe and are about, as opposed as being able to ‘do the job’. The latter never meant much to him and his choices reflect that. Save the fact that they are destined by ‘design’ and not ‘earnest behavior’! As I see it, Trump is ‘surface’, not ‘substance’. His last people proved just that, time and time again. It will not be ‘smooth sailing’ for Trump and ‘shouldn’t be so’ either. Now is the time to ‘challenge’ Trump and MAGA, both. Oppose anything negative that the ‘neuvo regime’ presents. Curtail all things negative and potentially ‘illegal’ on their end. Keep close watch on everything that ‘Washington DC’ says and does. Maintain a ‘forum’ with ‘reasonable people’ there. Block all efforts from ‘extremists’. Continue to vote in all elections. And guys! Don’t just simply ‘not vote’. For if you ‘don’t vote’, you have thus ‘voted’. In this case, a lack of a vote for Harris, went to Trump. Do we really want him to be stronger? Seriously! He’s like what he calls ‘dogs’….he’s ‘disgusting’! Amazing that this country ever got him into office to begin with! Only in America!
What are some great short jokes?
The barrage of info from the ‘right wing’ has been consistent. Many on Team Blue have been effected by the same. Save the fact if no one watches Fox News or listens to podcasts of the same nature. The overall media focused so much on Trump that there was little room for anyone else. Especially Harris! Elon Musk and billionaires ‘like him’ poured tremendous amounts of money into Trump’s campaign and endeavors! It too had moved ‘the needle’ a bit to their advantage.
Apathy. Plain and simple. I wanted to discuss politics with a coworker, and his response was, “Listen. I like you, Mike, and like what you say because you make sense. Everyone else is so ‘full of shit’ that I can’t side with anyone. Don’t like politics. So please….don’t talk to me about that anymore, please!” Of course, I respected his request and adhered to it fully. We talk sports now. Not sure how he voted or if he even did at all. Regardless of all. I can see why people are so sick of everything that they are now ‘demoralized’. Something which plays into the hands of people like Trump. His method? If he can’t ‘buy it’, or ‘own it’, or ‘control it’, he’ll do everything in his power to ‘demoralize it’. Viola! His battering verbally and in the media are overwheming, and many have been ‘overwhelmed’. Folks are focused on making it to work or school, many times both. Raising families. Paying bills and maintaining ‘households’, along with just life being demanding in so many ways. Politics? Just another burden to consider. And for a great amount of people, the shitty ‘politics’ are just another ‘straw’ on the ‘camel’s back’. They just wish that they could remain ‘neutral’ and be ‘spared’ the ‘soul gathering’ that politics is in nautre. “I don’t care about you! I just want your vote.” After Trump said that in Las Vegas and the chowd cheered, it was something to witness that horrible statement and how they reacted. Most normal folks don’t take kindly to being ‘insulted’ or ‘disregarded’. However, this is MAGA. So logic no longer ‘applies’.
This time around, it’s Donald Trump and MAGA. Regardless of the reasons, it’s a ‘done deal’! Swing states proved to be less than what they should have been for the Democrats and those in concert with them, respectively. Gerrymandering. Voter restrictions. And of course, the lovely ‘Electorate College’ all played a role as well. Trump and the GOP swayed things ‘their way’, though many legit and not so legit methods, both! I can tell you that I have had experienced what a ‘deep red’ town is in fully reality!
Many people didn’t have ‘confidence’ in the Biden Administration. They didn’t ever know that what the Democrats have done, just what Trump has done, or has pretend to do, whatever. The overall perception is that the Team Blue isn’t ‘strong enough’ to address issues. Just because we choose to be ‘civil’ as opposed to ‘arrogant’, really isn’t fair. How many people are like Trump? A sore loser whom is ‘hell bent’ to get ‘what he wants’ and doesn’t give a ‘rat’s ass’ how he gets it, respectively. There is no honor nor pride with Trump, just obligatory actions to secure his interests. Dems that I know started to blame Biden for everything. I set them straight saying the between COVID-19 and Trump’s bungling of matters, that the natural result has been ‘negative’. Unfortunately, President Biden inherited the mess that he has been ‘cleaning up’ indefinitely. Most people don’t hear or see that. They just get the ‘schmaltz’ that TV, radio and the Internet feed them. No real argument to counter that. There were people that were ‘Democratic’, but for whatever reason, changed their minds. And there have been those that I encountered that were and still are ‘disillusioned’. Either they don’t like the pressure that folks in our ‘highly democratic area’ have been giving those that are indecisive and uncertain. It is real hard to get ‘any truth’ in these times. Trump threw doubt on the media by reciting, ‘fake news’. Though he was always in that category and much of what he says, does or endorses, is false in itself. I met a girl that really was upset. A proclaimed Democrat. She came to me for advice. Though I did what I could, I didn’t sway her at all. She said, “I am young and don’t know a ‘damned thing’! My father says read a newspaper, but I haven’t done that for a long time since many of those are gone. TV is full of shit! There is no way I can endorse either Biden or Trump. I am not voting!” That was a shock, but at the same time, no surprise. The Democratic Party is not reaching the right people enough. If they did and would enlighten people, such as the gal I mentioned, then maybe there would not be so much ‘confusion’ and ‘frustration’. Why vote for someone you ‘don’t believe in’? I wouldn’t. Though I am politically educated in all facets, I can understand why there were Dems that either ‘didn’t vote’, or found something that Trump offered as true, and thus…voted for Trump. It is sad, but Team Blue wasn’t as solid as many reckoned it to be, respectively. So yes, Virginia, there is a Democrat voting for Trump!
Vice President Kamala Harris had little time to effectively campaign. Many never knew what she’s done, though much of it was positive. The media simply didn’t cover that. With only under two months, an effective campaign was ‘near impossible’. Trump and MAGA have had since 2016 to keep in the ‘limelight’ and ‘known’. Kamala Harris was not given that advantage. She needed to compress as much as possible in a short amount of time. Tall order indeed!
Since then, I reflected on that experience and felt that in some strange way, Trump might damn well win! It was an eerie feeling, though I felt it was only ‘temporary’. My impression, as many, even Republicans, figured that Trump ‘was out’ and MAGA ‘diminshed’. So many indications pointed towards Biden, then Harris, respectively. Confidence was high and yes, the swing state thing was seemingly ‘close enough’, yet appeared to drift ‘blue’. Media proclaimed the same. What wasn’t known or seen is what ‘ruined it all’ for ‘Team Blue’. Surprise! I was literally sick ‘for a week’ after November 5th. Shock? Yes! Dissed? Most certainly! Surprised? Abso-freakin’-lutely! Still. Have had to focus on domestics and employment before that and afterwards. Life goes on, even if it ‘sucks’! Must press on!
Dollar Tree raises red flag about unexpected customer behavior - TheStreet
As I mentioned, I live in a mostly ‘democratic area’. About 60% or so. In my neighborhood, almost everyone I know are Democrats. There are now exceptions. This is something that many people didn’t figure on in retrospect. Immigration? We have a large amount of minorities and a good portion of them are ‘not legal’. They inhabit jobs here in a place that was once basically White, Black and some Latinx. That has changed over three decades. Now? Looking for a job is harder since many employers demand, because of their ‘clientel’, that a person be ‘bilinigual’. There is a tremendous backlash agaisnt that, understandably. Many folks living here for generations are sick of that. They don’t see any reduction of immigrants, especially ‘non legal’ ones. Hence, they blame Biden. Then they hear Trump yelling that he’ll ‘deport tens of millions’ of ‘illegal immigrants’. That has a flavor in itself. Many like and endorse that aspect of all. The Biden Administration has done little to curtail that. Hence, votes for Trump. There are other issues too, but the examples given should illustrate the issue fully.
There are so many damned reasons that Trump won, any that have come to my attention all ‘make sense’! Sadly. This is the world we live in daily. Media isn’t trusted. Politicians are not trusted. And contrary to what the perception is, we lean toward ‘Trump’ more then ‘Biden’ or ‘Harris’. You’d be surprised how many people have voiced their ‘true opinions’. One gal I knew for years turns out to be a ‘massive racist’. This I didn’t know until she let loose and pontificated how she hates ‘minorities’ and despises ‘immigrants’. Then I find out that she always secretly was ‘pro life’. Hence, her vote was for Trump. A Democrat as far as I have known her, I never knew her ‘inner sanctum’. Now? The ‘reversal’ of ‘political correctness’ is like a ‘pendulum’ swinging backwards. Now? Many folks feel that they now can ‘be honest’ and ‘open’. Though it in itself is not a bad thing, many times, it is conclusively. The march of MAGA has taken effect and the Election is over. Now what?
If it were only that simple. I wrote a post called ‘Worst Than a Trump Supporter’ recently. I gathered as much info as I could from all sources, even the ‘right wing’, and came to ‘several conclusions’, of which have not been ‘debated’ or called ‘false’. It’s based on facts that we either know or can know if willing to do so through ‘leg work’.

Many independents were leaning towards ‘Team Blue’ and voted that way. However, there were some that are for Trump and MAGA. And then the ones that voted for their party’s ‘candidate’. Though it wasn’t tremendous, there were close to 1,000,000, that did just that! It wasn’t a major deal, granted. But with their votes, we could have had at least more votes. So there is that.
